Container behaviour determines the feeding concept

Round, symmetrical bottles may need upright orientation without rotational registration, while flat or asymmetric packs can require front/back or feature orientation. Lightweight containers may nest, cling through static, deform under pressure or fall at transfers. Tall, narrow bottles can be stable in bulk yet difficult to accelerate onto a conveyor.

The supplier needs the complete format range, including dimensional tolerances and samples from normal production. A drawing alone may not reveal scuffing, moulding variation, static behaviour or the way a flexible pack recovers after compression.

An unscrambler should not continue forcing bottles into a blocked conveyor. Sensors and control signals must slow or stop bulk feeding before excessive pressure, nesting or scuffing occurs, then restart without releasing an uncontrolled surge. The downstream line should also indicate when it is ready to receive containers.

Format change may involve rails, pockets, guides, orientation parts, speed settings and sensor positions. Parts should be identified and settings documented. The first-off check should confirm upright presentation, required orientation, acceptable surface condition and stable transfer through the next machine.
